The Final Table Official Results The Evening Tournament |
Fo(u)rget About ItBy Mike PaulleThe record book took another pounding today as 480 players signed up for the Seven Card Stud event. That was 53 more than last year's record. The total prize pool was $48,000. When Robert Krzykalski lost to Bill Carter's full house, Bob thought he was the last one out of the money and walked away, upon a recount he was 24th and got to play a few more hands. To set up the final table, Pat Wardlaw mucked his hand when Jerry Klick showed him Queens up. Pat mustn't have had a Pat hand and finished 9th.
It wasn't Sed Day's day at the final table. He lost most of his chips trying to get David Levi to lay down a pair of Jacks. It didn't work. All-in soon thereafter, Sed showed an Ace up. Mike DiPascale showed a four. Sed made aces, Mike caught fours full. Sad Sed was 8th. Jerry Klick brought the biggest chip lead to the final table we've had in the Orleans Open to date. But when Jerry started playing hands, nothing Klick- ed. Giving his mountain of chips away as fast as he could, Jerry went all-in with a King showing against David Levi's five. Levi made Aces up, Klick couldn't improve on his King. It was that kind of final table for the former chip leader. He exited in 7th place. Mike DiPascale was bled off until he had to go all-in with a pair of threes. He was up against the terminator though in David Levi who had Kings. Mike was drawing thin when David made Kings full of threes to DiPascale the final table. Carl Alcorn was next. He'd barely played a hand until his chips ran out. His threes didn't improve, either, and Tony Schiraldi made 8's and 6's. Carl was dealt a further blow in 5th when the last four players immediately made a deal. The chip count at this point was approximately as follows:
David Levi $80,000+ There was no gamble left in this group. Play on? Forget about it. They gave Levi $12,000 and the TOC seat. The other three took $7,700. Tony Schiraldi laid down the most chips. Tony tried to suggest he was due more, but this was his first ever Stud tournament. In the end Tony was happy with the nice payday.
9th-16th received $480 Pat Wardlaw, Bill Carter, Andre Boyer, Gordon Long, Ray Rumler, Bill Boston, Joe Tushnet, Bob Davidson and Tip O'Neal tied. 17th-24th received $240 Carolyn Gardner, Alan Grant, Brad Daugherty, Rich Schinkowitch, Miguel Jaikel, Ken Bennet, Robert Krzykalski
Again four was the deal number. The last four players at first decided to save $5,000 each and play for $4,025 and the TOC seat. Then when it got to the last two they save another $2,000 each and played for $25 and the seat. The rush continues for Mikhail Shadkin. The winner of an Omaha High event in the World Series of Poker earlier this year. By winning tonight, he's now in the Tournament of Champions as well. Official Prize Money
11th-20th received $320 Dick Arnove, TJ Harvey (Oregon), JJ Jones, Paul Patersen (New Zealand), Kathy Liebert, Pat Fleming, David Freed, Gary Weedis (S. Carolina), Jim Quinn (Arizona) and Nick Krochmal (Reno)
