The Final Table Official Results Ladies Limit Hold'em The Evening Tournament |
Shut Up and (Let's) DealBy Mike PaulleStud Hi-Lo is a game of chops. It's hard to scoop a hand. Like the game, the players wanted to chop up the prize money today. 230 players showed up for the Stud Hi-Lo event today, 6 more than last year. The total prize pool was $46,000. When Woody Long caught a second pair, Allen Tinkly was through. There were now sixteen players left, all of whom were in the money. To set up the final table, Sean Prysock made a 7 high straight and a 6 low to knock out David James in 9th. An obviously upset James had a fairly decent hand, Aces up and a 7 low.
PK Klevmoen was the beneficiary of David James' bad beat. But with only $900 he wasn't destined to stay long at the final table. Mike McClannahan wiped out his pair with a flush and a 7 low. PK was 8th. John Sutton got chopped up and out of the tournament by K's and 8's from Sean Prysock and a 7 low from Mike McClannahan. J Mitch Miller wasn't singing along when Mike McClannahan turned over trip 6's to beat his Q's and 8's. Miller hummed into 6th. Bonnie McHugh went all-in and missed her low. Her 3's lost to Richard Korbin's A's and 4's. McHugh wasn't feeling so bonnie in 5th. Now the first of the deals came down. The remaining four players saved $2,000 extra each off the top. This helped "Miami” John Cernuto because he was the next one out. John couldn't get Sean Prysock to lay a hand down. When his low missed, Cernuto's 7's lost to Prysock's 10's up. With Cernuto gone, deal #2 saved $9,000 for the remaining players. It was Sean Prysock who benefited from this deal as Mike McClannahan made a flush on the river to send Sean out in 3rd. Finally, in the last deal of the night, the chip leader Mike McClannahan gave Richard Korbin $2,600 and a percentage of himself in next year's Tournament of Champions. Mike took the seat and $1,000 in cash. Monty Hall would have loved this final table.
9th-16th received $460 David James, Allen Loonin, Annie Brown Bloom, Woody Long, Jim Jolly, Mike Mahan, Jesse Dixon and Jim Fuller
Down to three players left, the stacks were about even. Shelley Carr said "No deal." Wanda Sosland, from that point on, took the other two players apart. Wanda, who just celebrated her birthday, gave herself a nice present by winning almost every hand in an awesome display of short-handed tournament play.
